Ugly Holiday Sweater Party

Jp and I celebrated the holiday season by attending a SDSU masters program holiday party!!  It was fun due to the ugly sweater theme.  It was an extra challenge to find any sweater living here in San Diego.  JP and I went for the ugliest t-shirt we could find.  I think JP's shirt wins- check it out.   Many people went for crazy holiday PJs.  We ended the night with a kiss/laugh under the mistletoe

Birthday Weekend

I flew to NYC to spend my birthday weekend with great friends. It was wonderful to enjoy the holiday season and to celebrate my birthday in the city. It even snowed at night. It was fun to watch the beautiful sight even though it made it a cold trip.

Broadway Show-Girls Night Out

The girls, Alanna and Amy, surprised me with tickets to the Broadway show Mama Mia on Saturday. After traveling into the city we enjoyed appetizers and cocktails at Charlie O's.Then we headed to the theater to enjoy the show. The seats were in a special balcony to the side of the stage;very cool. It was a really fun show full of laughter, singing and dancing. It was the perfect thing to keep my mind off turning 30!

Checking out the Holiday windows

My Mom and my sister surprised me by traveling into NYC for the day. It was fun to be able to enjoy the holiday sights with great friends and family. After a delicious brunch, Lanna played the best tour guide which allowed everyone to enjoy the city even with the short amount of time. We all thought Macy's had the best holiday window with the story of Miracle on 42th street.

Thanks to my awesome friends and family. I had an unbelievable 30th b-day weekend. I appreciate all the birthday cheer, thanks!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

JP and I enjoyed our Thanksgiving week.  We took the opportunity to travel around California.  We passed through LA and saw Rodeo Drive decorated for Christmas then we continued up the coast using the famous Route 1.  The drive offered amazing views and interesting sights.

Pacific Coast Highway

We headed out from LA up the Pacific Coast Highway.  JP and I couldn't believe the breathtaking views of the coast from the drive.  The road runs right along the coast, too close at times since it is a straight drop off into the ocean below.

17 Mile Drive

From Carmel you can drive the 17 mile drive which continues along the CA coastline.  The 17 mile drive takes you by several famous golf courses which have greens on the coast over looking the ocean.  We were also able see Sea Lions, an owl and many of other birds.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA

We spent the night in my new favorite town called Carmel- by -the -Sea.  The town of about 2,000 people is found along side the spectacular views of the coast near the famous 17 mile drive.  The town is a story book place with fabulous houses, and shops which celebrates the arts through out the community.

Turkey Day

We spent our turkey day in Lake Tahoe, Nevada where a friend of ours has a vacation home. Lake Tahoe is a freshwater lake in an area known as the Sierra Nevada.  Two thirds of the shoreline is in California, and one third is in Nevada.  Tahoe is the highest lake in the United States and the largest alpine lake in North America.  It was wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy the scenery.  file:///Volumes/Home/Users/cwainscott/Desktop/images-2.jpeg

Yosemite National Park

We completed our trip with a quick visit to Yosemite National Park.  It is a beautiful park.  We were only able to see some of this unbelievable sights due to the road closures in the winter months. JP and I are excited to have a chance to go back to this fascinating place in the summer.

Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon Weekend

Team Challenge and I in San Antonio, Texas for the weekend of the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon. Thanks again for the support in training and fundraising.

Our famous hotel the Menger built in 1859  was close to all the great sites of the city including the San Antonio Riverwalk and the historic Alamo.
The San Antonio Riverwalk is a neat spot, which runs under the main streets of the city.  The Riverwalk showcases restaurants, shops and beautiful views of the city.
The Alamo

Welcome to Texas.  The team arrived in TX on Friday night and decided to check out the local nightlife.
This is the team the night before the big race.  As you can tell from the smiles we are all pumped for the event.  GO TEAM!!!
The Team and I race morning at 5:45 am in the hotel lobby.  We all look pretty awake for it being so very early in the morning.  Unfortunately, it was less than 40 degrees outside.  Brrr...
We all crammed onto the bus to head over to the starting line.
Cooling down after the race.
Cheers  We crossed the finish line.  Time to party!!!
After the dinner we all headed out to a concert at the Alamodome.
.
and the night continues...

Can you believe that we are dancing on legs that just ran a half marathon earlier in the day??  It was a crazy night of Karaoke.

Happy Halloween

It was fun to be able to enjoy a Halloween party with the holiday falling on a Friday.  We party with some friends who also live here in OB.  The costumes that people came up with were very creative and often hysterical.  The guys in the picture decided to go as an ultimate Frisbee team.

Octoberfest in OB

JP and several classmates hanging out Oct. 11th at the Octoberfest in the OB Pier Parking lot.  We all enjoyed the Beer Garden, two stages of music, the sausage toss, Oompah music and more.  It feels a little strange to enjoy Octoberfest activities in shorts and shirts, but nothing can beat the ocean view.

Enjoying the sunset

During one of our walks the family and I enjoyed the beautiful sunset over the ocean from Sunset Cliffs.

Computer Instructor Wainscott

I recently took a new job as a computer instructor at Santa Fe Elementary School within the Solana Beach School system. I am very excited to be a part of another great school. I am very luck to have a brand new computer lab filled with Mac computers. Anyone who has any great computer lessons k-6, please pass them on!

Ouch!!

I have been having a great time on the different team challenge runs; however this Saturday's run was a little more painful than most. I had a good 6 mile run, but about twenty minutes after finishing I passed out!!! I smacked my head on the concrete and caused some damage. Everyone on the team was really kind and helped to clean me up. I will have to come up with some entertaining story to tell everyone on Monday since I am sure to have some bruising and scarring.

Team Challenge

JP and I along with the rest of the group on one of our early Saturday morning runs as a part of Team Challenge. We are luck enough to have two team coaches and a great group of people to run with. The bonus is the multi-million dollars homes and beautiful oceanviews along our 5+ mile runs.

Enjoying Labor Day

JP and I enjoy a great BBQ at a friend's house in Rancho Bernardo,CA. It is a beautiful location with amazing views. We splashed around in the pool and grilled out while basking in the warm southern California sunshine. As you can see they picked out a special pair of goggles for JP!!!

Mexico Street

In order to reach the natural blow hole you had to walk down this crazy street market. It was full of venders selling strangely enough the same items, handbags, statues of turtles, t-shirts, and different types of food. We decided to eat a churro as a quick snack; we couldn't believe the size of just one order.
