Happy Thanksgiving

JP and I enjoyed our Thanksgiving week.  We took the opportunity to travel around California.  We passed through LA and saw Rodeo Drive decorated for Christmas then we continued up the coast using the famous Route 1.  The drive offered amazing views and interesting sights.

Pacific Coast Highway

We headed out from LA up the Pacific Coast Highway.  JP and I couldn't believe the breathtaking views of the coast from the drive.  The road runs right along the coast, too close at times since it is a straight drop off into the ocean below.

17 Mile Drive

From Carmel you can drive the 17 mile drive which continues along the CA coastline.  The 17 mile drive takes you by several famous golf courses which have greens on the coast over looking the ocean.  We were also able see Sea Lions, an owl and many of other birds.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA

We spent the night in my new favorite town called Carmel- by -the -Sea.  The town of about 2,000 people is found along side the spectacular views of the coast near the famous 17 mile drive.  The town is a story book place with fabulous houses, and shops which celebrates the arts through out the community.

Turkey Day

We spent our turkey day in Lake Tahoe, Nevada where a friend of ours has a vacation home. Lake Tahoe is a freshwater lake in an area known as the Sierra Nevada.  Two thirds of the shoreline is in California, and one third is in Nevada.  Tahoe is the highest lake in the United States and the largest alpine lake in North America.  It was wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy the scenery.  file:///Volumes/Home/Users/cwainscott/Desktop/images-2.jpeg

Yosemite National Park

We completed our trip with a quick visit to Yosemite National Park.  It is a beautiful park.  We were only able to see some of this unbelievable sights due to the road closures in the winter months. JP and I are excited to have a chance to go back to this fascinating place in the summer.

Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon Weekend

Team Challenge and I in San Antonio, Texas for the weekend of the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon. Thanks again for the support in training and fundraising.

Our famous hotel the Menger built in 1859  was close to all the great sites of the city including the San Antonio Riverwalk and the historic Alamo.
The San Antonio Riverwalk is a neat spot, which runs under the main streets of the city.  The Riverwalk showcases restaurants, shops and beautiful views of the city.
The Alamo

Welcome to Texas.  The team arrived in TX on Friday night and decided to check out the local nightlife.
This is the team the night before the big race.  As you can tell from the smiles we are all pumped for the event.  GO TEAM!!!
The Team and I race morning at 5:45 am in the hotel lobby.  We all look pretty awake for it being so very early in the morning.  Unfortunately, it was less than 40 degrees outside.  Brrr...
We all crammed onto the bus to head over to the starting line.
Cooling down after the race.
Cheers  We crossed the finish line.  Time to party!!!
After the dinner we all headed out to a concert at the Alamodome.
.
and the night continues...

Can you believe that we are dancing on legs that just ran a half marathon earlier in the day??  It was a crazy night of Karaoke.

Happy Halloween

It was fun to be able to enjoy a Halloween party with the holiday falling on a Friday.  We party with some friends who also live here in OB.  The costumes that people came up with were very creative and often hysterical.  The guys in the picture decided to go as an ultimate Frisbee team.

Octoberfest in OB

JP and several classmates hanging out Oct. 11th at the Octoberfest in the OB Pier Parking lot.  We all enjoyed the Beer Garden, two stages of music, the sausage toss, Oompah music and more.  It feels a little strange to enjoy Octoberfest activities in shorts and shirts, but nothing can beat the ocean view.

Enjoying the sunset

During one of our walks the family and I enjoyed the beautiful sunset over the ocean from Sunset Cliffs.
